Overview
Spirax Sarco has manufactured balanced pressure steam traps for more than 50 years. They operate on the temperature difference between condensate and steam, allowing part of the sensible heat in condensate to be used while reducing flash steam losses. Balanced pressure steam traps adjust automatically to varying steam pressure and provide effective air venting during both start-up and normal operation. Their compact size, high condensate capacity, resistance to frost, waterhammer and superheat, plus in-line maintainability make them well suited to steam mains, small process plant, tracing lines, outdoor services, laundry and kitchen equipment, and hospital sterilising duties. They are especially relevant where strong thermostatic air venting and controlled sub-cooled discharge are more valuable than continuous mechanical drainage behaviour. That makes them a common choice where start-up air release carries almost as much weight as condensate handling itself.
Related thermostatic-trap routes
Balanced pressure designs are strongest where air venting and controlled sub-cooled discharge matter together. If the duty instead values a more rugged thermostatic mechanism, compare bimetallic steam traps. Where the application needs a preset discharge temperature rather than pressure-responsive behaviour, continue into fixed temperature discharge steam traps.
For sanitary or higher-purity applications, compare BT6-B balanced pressure steam traps and related clean steam systems.
BPC32YCV carbon steel balanced pressure steam trap
BPC32YCV is part of the Spirax Sarco BPC32 family of carbon steel balanced pressure thermostatic steam traps. This page is designed for users who need a direct BPC32YCV route for document download, installed-base checking and family-level replacement review when a sub-model does not have a standalone technical leaflet.
Spirax Sarco MST21 Stainless Steel Balanced Pressure Steam Trap
The Spirax Sarco MST21 is a maintainable stainless steel balanced pressure thermostatic steam trap for tracing lines and small condensate discharge duties. It uses a balanced pressure bellows mechanism that adjusts the discharge temperature automatically in response to steam pressure changes and provides effective air venting during start-up. The standard MST21 covers tracing line duties while the MST21H high capacity variant is available for heavier applications.
Continue your thermostatic trap selection
Balanced pressure steam traps are often chosen as part of a wider decision about thermostatic behaviour, maintenance strategy and process cleanliness.
Compare the wider trap portfolio
Return to the wider steam traps range when you need to compare balanced pressure traps with bimetallic, thermodynamic or mechanical trap families.
Move into sealed thermostatic formats
Use sealed steam traps when the priority shifts toward compact all-welded trap formats and lower replacement complexity.
Support hygienic steam duties
Use the clean steam range when thermostatic air venting and condensate drainage also need to align with sanitary or high-purity process expectations.
