STERI-TROL clean service control valve
Overview
Spirax Sarco STERI-TROL is a pneumatically operated clean-service control valve range designed for hygienic applications where drainability, cleanability and control performance all matter together. The range uses 316L stainless steel construction and can be configured for modulating or on-off control across clean process duties in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, beverage and other high-cleanliness environments. Its angle-pattern self-draining body, reduced dead space, polished surfaces and double stem seal arrangement help explain why it is suited to clean-service duties in practice rather than general industrial control alone. Product documentation for the S series also points to two-port and three-port configurations, helping the valve range address control, diverting and process-routing duties within hygienic systems. STERI-TROL is therefore best used where control stability, washability, material traceability and hygienic valve design all need to be addressed in the same package.
When to choose a clean-service control valve
STERI-TROL is aimed at duties where the valve has to do more than isolate or reduce pressure. It is better suited to applications that need repeatable modulation, automated positioning or diverting control while still meeting the drainability and cleanability expectations of hygienic process lines.
That makes it relevant on systems where control stability and hygienic valve design have to be solved together, rather than by adapting a general industrial control valve into a clean-service environment later.
Typical hygienic control duties
- Clean steam and clean fluid modulation
- On-off pneumatic service in automated lines
- Diverting or routing duties using three-port configurations
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology and food process skids
Related sanitary valve routes
- Use SRV66 pressure reducing valves when the requirement is self-acting downstream pressure control rather than modulating flow control.
- Review M70i and M80i sanitary ball valves when the duty is shut-off only.
- Connect valve control to clean steam generation when STERI-TROL is being specified downstream of a dedicated hygienic steam source.
Continue your clean-service valve selection
Clean-service control valves usually sit inside a wider hygienic package that also depends on generation, pressure control, drainage and documentation requirements.
See the wider clean steam system
Return to the wider clean steam range when control-valve selection is only one part of a broader hygienic steam or clean-fluid package.
Separate pressure reduction from modulating control
Use sanitary pressure reducing valves when the duty depends on self-acting local pressure reduction rather than a pneumatically actuated control valve.
Connect control to the clean steam source
Move into clean steam generation when the clean-service valve is being specified downstream of a dedicated hygienic steam source.
