Level controls

Benefits

Accurate boiler water level monitoring and control

Safer low-water and high-water protection

Support automatic feedwater control strategies

Overview

Boiler level control systems combine sensors, controllers, alarms and output devices such as valves or pumps to keep water level within a safe operating range. They can support simple on-off control, modulating control and wider two-element or three-element feedwater strategies depending on boiler size and load variation. Reliable level control is fundamental to safer boiler operation because low-water conditions, unstable feedwater response and poor alarm handling all increase boiler house risk. Spirax Sarco level controls are used for automatic level management, low-water protection and high-water alarm duties where visibility, repeatability and maintainability matter together. These products are typically specified as part of a broader electronic boiler control platform that may also cover TDS blowdown, conductivity monitoring and operator communication. They are especially relevant where the boiler house needs more stable feedwater response across changing demand rather than basic switch-only level indication.

Related boiler instrumentation routes

Level control is usually one part of the wider boiler instrumentation platform. Add TDS blowdown controls when dissolved solids management is also being automated, and use conductivity meters where water condition must be monitored alongside level.

If feedwater storage and deaeration are driving the wider design, continue into deaerators.

Continue your boiler control system selection

Boiler level control does not operate in isolation. It normally sits beside blowdown control, water quality monitoring and the wider feedwater arrangement.
